Courtesy Visits to the Legal Aid Department by the Director General / Chief Judge of Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia (JKSM)

The Director General of Legal Aid Department (JBG) had received a courtesy visit made by the Director General / Chief Judge of Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia (JKSM), YAA Dato’ Dr. Mohd Naim bin Hj. Mokhtar, on the 30^th April 2019.

The courtesy visit was made to discuss issues on the collaboration planned between JKSM and JBG in order to strengthen two-ways relationship between both departments, inter alia, an earlier information need to be made regarding the courses organized and planned by JKSM. This is to ensure that the syariah legal officers attending the courses could manage their schedules wisely as well as to ensure that there will be no redundancies on the programmes organised by both departments.

Legal Aid Clinic of LAD Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur

On 25 April 2019, the Legal Aid Department, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur had organised a Legal Aid Clinic at the Syariah Court Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. The details are as follows:

Two (2) clients came for consultation regarding Syariah matters (divorce, custody and maintenance of a child ). Clients were given legal advice and they were also advised to go to the Legal Aid Department, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur at Menara TH Perdana, Kuala Lumpur for further consultation.

Lawatan kerja YB Datuk Liew Vui Keong Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Undang-Undang) ke JBG Selangor pada 24 Jun 2019 (Isnin).

Mediation Case Handling and Skills Enhancement

Legal Aid Department (LAD) had organized a course relating to Mediation Case Handling and Skills Enhancement on 9-11 April 2019. This course was held at Institut Latihan Kehakiman dan Perundangan (ILKAP), Bangi, Selangor. 20 mediators from different LAD branches across Malaysia had participated in this course.
This program is aimed to give understanding and exposures to the mediators on the skills and techniques on mediation and to provide a knowledge sharing platform to participants to exchange their experiences in handling various mediation cases.
The contents of this course include mediation approach in dispute settlement, legal issues on mediation for civil and syariah cases handled by JBG and simulation sessions. The closing ceremony and certificate presentation was honored by the General Director of Legal Aid Department YBhg. Datuk Haini binti Hassan.
